within us all today. (85 mins, 1 on the road

- Welcome to the concentration
of camp! My paintings mean nothing. I paint to excite myself. Life's
meaningless, but there's something quite beautiful being abused by an ugly brute
one captivated in a bar just one hour before. (75 mins solo drama, venues up to 500 seats 1 on the road domestically, 2
internationally, strong language)
- "Smile though your heart is aching. Smile even though it's breaking ..."
One of the most loved tunes of the twentieth century, and it was written by
one of the best loved film actors of all time - Charlie Chaplin. Comic genius,
traitor, coward, communist, sexual deviant; Chaplin was the most famous man of
his age, he made millions laugh at his famous 'Tramp', but failed to find
happiness himself until in 1943 aged 54 he married 18 year old Oona O'Neil. From
then until his death in 1977 he made only four more films.
- Edmund Kean, arguably the finest English actor of all time, is dying in
poverty. He looks back on the highs and lows of his life and career; his
obsession with stardom, his relationship with his audience, and the fickle
nature of fame. (40 mins, 1 on the road domestically 2 internationally ,
normally double bill with Labels, workshops available)
- A comical tale of one man’s strange collecting hobby which nearly destroys
his whole life. Written by Louis de Bernieres one of the country’s leading
authors. (40 mins, 1 on the road domestically 2 internationally ,
normally double bill with Kean, workshops available)
- The world and nature of fame and
celebrity are delved into in this story of one man’s dream of stardom. The
fickle power of public approval and the need to make it to the top take over the
mind of the hero, Dave Williams. (75 mins, 1 on the road domestically
2 internationally, workshops available)
- Two men: the father grieving his lost daughter and the driver who
killed her. A final resolution to their pain must be found. (75 mins, 1
on the road domestically 2 internationally, strong language, workshops available)
- Joseph and Mary's son Jesus, is crucified, dead, buried. Joseph's
son? Bereft, angry, confused, Joseph confronts Mary on the morning of the
resurrection. (70 mins, 2 on the road domestically 3 internationally, workshops available)
-
In The Line of Duty
- Written by Pip Utton directed by Hilary Strong
A well known, but possibly small time, local drug pusher has been shot dead
by a policeman. The father wants to bury his son; the policeman has done
his duty and wants to get back to work; a villain has met with a
regrettable but perhaps inevitable end; and the investigating officer has
to resolve it all and make public his findings. (2 on the road
domestically, 3 internationally, strong language)At
the moment this is not available. I am hoping to rework it as a
radio play.
- Written by Louis de Bernières, adapted and performed by Pip Utton. yet to be performed.
- Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2008 will see the world premiere of Jeff
Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of The Worlds. This is an exciting
and challenging project using Jeff Wayne’s soundtrack and the original
unabridged script. It is 30 years this year that Jeff’s ‘War of the
Worlds’ album was released. Not only is this the first one man performance
of the work but the first time that the full original script has been
performed live.
